One Cake to Rule Them All

I don't bake, and my daughter realized early on that if she wanted sugar in the house, she'd have to get it there herself. So she became the family baker. Her specialty is birthday cakes, and she's kind of shockingly good at those: she doesn't follow designs from a cake-decorating book, she just dreams stuff up and makes it happen. For her little brother's 12th birthday, she made a "track and field" cake, complete with grass, a racetrack, and a first-place ribbon made of melted candy and a ginger snap. The previous year, she baked him a TARDIS cake. For her dad's most recent birthday, she made an Eye of Sauron cake.

At Suze's behest, I'm posting photos of it.

One does not simply WALK into Mordor. One EATS into it.

Yes, that is Elvish
The photo quality is not the best, but you can still tell that it's a pretty damn amazing cake. (And it was delicious, too.) If Sauron had had someone to bake him a cake like this, wouldn't he have been a nicer fellow?

  1. Your daughter sure is creative! I hope she bakes cakes in between birthdays, too...
