What's Making Me Happy: March 14

This has been a good week. I'm still losing weight, slowly slowly but surely, and even better — I feel really good. It may simply be that I'm eating a lot more vegetables, or it could be the high-fat diet, but I have more energy than usual and my joints feel nearly painless. That's a big deal. I've been dealing with rotator cuff issues and piriformis syndrome for months now. It's limited my exercise routine and made daily life kind of unpleasant. I started PT and that's been helpful, but this last week the pain has reduced remarkably. I was able to complete a whole vinyasa yoga routine that was off-limits to me for months. It'll take a while to get my tone and flexibility back, but now I feel like that's going to happen. What a relief.

I celebrated today by going on one of my favorite hikes. Over the winter the trail was snowy and slippery so I haven't seen my waterfall in a few months. It was like visiting an old friend. You can tell my dog felt the same way:

Some more photos from our misty mountain hop:

And an appropriate song:

Now here's some excellence from around the interwebz:

This guy's obituary, which he wrote himself.

This show's rebirth. (I do loves me my Neil deGrasse Tyson.)

The BBC's "Funny Talking Animals" videos, which I never get tired of.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. Oh I bet you DID have a beast with four dirty paws after that hike! What a beautiful place. Its good to hear that you are feeling well, and able to do yoga again. You're on a high fat diet with lots of veggies? Sounds good to me.

  2. What a wonderful place to take a walk, especially if a waterfall is involved. I'm glad you were feeling well enough to enjoy it.

  3. 'There will be no viewing since his wife refuses to honor his request to have him standing in the corner of the room with a glass of Jack Daniels in his hand so he would appear natural to visitors.'

    Love it.

  4. Beautiful dog.

Glad to hear you're doing well. We're excited about the new Cosmos at our house, too.
